In November 1964, Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara went to the Congo with two hundred men, intent on making it his first step in taking over Africa and South America. He failed, thanks in large part to the efforts of an intrepid band of Green Berets. Licking his wounds, he retreated to Cuba to recruit more men and try the same thing in Bolivia. He failed there, too. In fact, he died there, and thus, despite his incompetence, became a glorious martyr to the cause. But who was trying to kill him, really - and who was trying to keep him alive?
The brotherhood is back - Craig Lowell, Sandy Felter, Jack Portet, Geoff Craig, Robert Bellmon, George Washington "Father" Lunsford, Master Sergeant Doubting Thomas - and their mission has never been more dramatic and deadly.

I liked the story, but I did not like -- not one little bit -- the repeats of entire chapters from "The Aviators"; it made me angry that such a capable author would repeat his own work. Certainly legal; but not very ethical. The ending wasn't much of a surprise; but like most great historical fiction, the event it was set in was key to much of modern history. It seems that Mr. Griffin has a fairly good knowledge of how the US intel community works; but I can tell from the shakiness in his depictions of foreign governments' intel practices that he's started to wander off familiar ground. Too bad. But it was still a great story, well-told ... with some disappointing 'gotchas'.Product details

Special Ops Brotherhood of War Book 9 (Audible Audio Edition) W E B Griffin Eric G Dove Brilliance Audio Books Reviews
I like all the W.E.B. Griffin books. They have the right blend for my personal tastes in novels, a bit of intrigue, a bit of mystery, violent confrontations, personal interactions, and a nice, fast pace. The only thing wrong with this particular novel is it borrows quite heavily from an earlier episode in the Brotherhood of War, which I had just finished rereading, so there were several parts of several pages length I just skimmed through.
All of W.E.B. Griffin's war stories are excellent. I've read the "Presidential Agent Novels", "The Corps Series (US Marine Corps)", and "The Brotherhood of War" novels. To discover to easily the Generals, Admirals, and the US Government send our young men into war is appalling, and to think a ship or an airplane is more important than a human being, is a real eye-opener.
For some reason this one, and only this one, started out more slowly than all the others I've read.
I am 83 years old and I have purchased and read all of WEB GIFFIN books most them I've read a second time as good reading is hard to find
Ihad not purchased the Brother Hood of War bk 8 or 9 as the reviews were not to good. But I decided last week to get the only 2 I missed. The review were right
if you read # 7 you know all you need as # 8 & # 9 are nothing but reruns of # 7 ( 2 or 3 pages just copies of pages in several places from # 7
It's shame that great series would end like this. should ashamed to even offer crap like the
This is the last of the Brotherhood of War series and was not up to par with Griffin's previous books. As I read the books in the series one right after the other, the previous stories were fresh on my mind. I understand the need to "revisit" previous story lines to maintain character continuity, but was very disappointed when entire portions of the previous book were "pasted" into "Special Ops". At times, I skipped large portions of Special Ops. Also, I thought the story itself didn't live up to the earlier books in the series as well.
This is the last book of the Brotherhood of War series. The Brotherhood of War is a story of the US Army Aviation and the US Army Special Forces; the story follows a group of characters from early in their career immediately prior to WWII, through the post war years, into Korea, and finally into Vietnam. The books reflect the ranks of the key characters; and the changes in responsibilities, and perspective as they progress through the ranks. Griffin writes from the perspective of the soldier, having been a Marine in WWII. Start with the Lieutenants and you will find that you want to read all nine of the books in the series.
Got the entire Brotherhood of War series, won't get into detail by book, because I don't want to ruin it for readers. Really liked Griffin's character development and ability to tell a story. Best part is after having lived in some of these locations myself, though much later than when the books are set, I love the accuracy and ability to see some of the things even today that are referenced in the books. A very well told story that I will read again, and I don't normally read books twice.
Out of the 19 W.E.B. Griffin books I have read (10 in the Corps series and 9 in the Brotherhood of War series), this is the first one I have disliked. The reason is that it includes 100s of pages from previous books in the Brotherhood series. They appear in many places. At first, I thought I’d lost my place or was going crazy. But no, it’s actual, it’s dissatisfactual. Shame on Griffin for doing this to devoted readers.
